Beyond the culinary experiences, atmosphere and incredible architectural design, it is the staff and exhibits at the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre that create a perfectly unique evening. Engaging conversations with the ambassadors, wandering through the exhibits, watching the film and learning the legends and folk-lore of Whistler’s First Nations people creates the lasting memories for guests.
Welcoming honoured guests with traditional song and dance is a sacred custom of both the Squamish and Lil’wat people. Ambassadors for the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre dress in traditional regalia and perform Salish welcome songs to greet guests as they arrive. For generations Elders have taught the songs to the youth. Today, our ambassadors proudly sing these hereditary songs in their traditional ways with handmade drums and wooden rattles.
